The 2008 Sediv Solo Series will
see a return to the traditional series format with a 5 National
Championship format events. After the experimental “Super
Regional” year in 2007 it became clear that the largest
attraction to the SEDIV series is the prestige, competition and
quality of events that the Championship format lends itself to.
For 2008 the series goal is very simple: The best events, on
the best sites with the best courses that we can possibly achieve.
With a primary goal of event excellence, the
secondary goals of the series are to dramatically improve communication
and to keep things extremely simple. The series will return to “best
3 out of 5” scoring. The only significant change from years
past is that event points will be based on percentages scores.
Simply, the winner of each class will receive 100 points, while
the rest of the drivers in the class will receive points based
on the margin to the winner.
I am very excited about the potential of the
2008 series, but it will only be as strong as the participation.
This is our series, and based on the information I have received,
this is the format that we want. I am asking regions to help
work with the series by making adjustments to their schedules
to facilitate SEDIV participation. I am asking you, the membership
to help give this series the legs it needs. The foundation of
Divisional competition is the measuring stick of top-level competition.
It is the first place aspiring drivers can go to see how they
measure up. For this series to succeed, we need both the aspiring
drivers and the drivers that set the standard.
Thank you,
Heyward Wagner
