March 23, 2009

Hello Again! I have some great news!  We got the ACU 4 Little Creek Base for our first Divisional and we got SGMP for the series finale on the first weekend in Aug. I am still working on event 2 and hope to have some news in the next two weeks. Online registration will be through Motorsportsreg.com and should be active this week. The event cost will be $65.00 per entrant and $35.00 for Junior Karts.  This year’s events will have pre-registration and payment available online.  There will be on-site registration on FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY and there is an INCREASED COST FOR LATE AND ON-SITE REGISTRATION.  Check Motorsportsreg.com for event registration dates and details.

My plan is still to have three events with the last one being the series finale with double points. To win the SEDIV championship you have to attend at least two of the three events and if you attend all three, only the points from your best two events will count. The person in the class with the most points wins. SEDIV championships will be awarded in every class including single car classes, but in order for your class championship to count toward the National Triad Award, there must be at least three drivers in your class that are eligible for the SEDIV class championship.  We will have a Ladies’ Pax class for those that want to have a class eligible for the Triad Award.

I am also looking for a few good men…and women to fill positions on the Divisional Solo Team.  If you are interested in sharing your expertise in any of the Chief positions, please let me know.  Available positions are: Chief of Impound, Chief of Protest, Chief of Timing and Scoring, Chief of Grid, Chief of Tech.

Thanks,

Robert Lewis

SEDIV Solo Steward

New Solo Steward for 2009

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Robert Lewis and I am the new Southeast Division Solo Steward.  I am a member of Dixie Region and I drive a black ’65 Mustang in CP.  I have also been the Chairman of the Dixie NT in Cecil, GA for the last two years and also again this year.  Previous Solo Steward, Karl Rickert has agreed to assist me this year.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the Area 3 Annual Meeting at Jekyll Island January 16 and 17, 2009.  For those of you who can not make it, I wanted to fill you in on what we have been working on.

My plan is to have three events this year. One in the North, one in the South and one in the Center of the Division, this event being the series finale and a double points event.  New this year to the SCCA is the Triple Crown.  The Triple Crown will go to folks who win there Division Championship, the Eastern States Championship (held in Blytheville, AR in May) and the National Championship in Lincoln, NE in September all in the same respective class.  Due to the significance of the Triple Crown, the Divisional Championships will only be awarded to classes that have at least three competitors.  We will be discussing the Ladies classes at the Area 3 meeting.  Since Ladies classes traditionally have fewer competitors, we are considering having a Ladies Pax class and the winner will be awarded with the Southeast Divisional Championship in the class she is paxed in.

This year my goal is to have as many events run on concrete as possible with the Northern and Southern Events scheduled before the Eastern State Championships run at the end of May.  This will allow everyone in the Division to run on concrete before this Championship event.  So far we have a commitment from Old Dominion Region in Norfolk, VA to run an event at the ACU 4 Little Creek Base.  They are trying to secure the dates of April 25/26, 2009.  We should know whether this date is acceptable within 45 days.  We have been communicating with regions in Central and Southern Florida and we are hoping to secure a date in the South the weekend of May 16/17, 2009.  Nothing has been determined as yet.  The season finale will be held in Northern Florida on a concrete site and we hope to secure a date sometime between late July and early August.
Please let me know if you are aware of an available site we can use for a Divisional.

I am also looking for a few good men…and women to fill positions on the Divisional Solo Team.  If you are interested in sharing your expertise in any of the Chief positions, please let me know.

I thank you for your time and I look forward to a great 2009 Southeast Divisional Series.
